Cadence and Nvidia Debut Level‑5 Autonomous AI Chip Design Engineer: ChipStack AI Super Agent

Release date:2026-06-09 Number of clicks:158

At Computex 2026, Cadence and Nvidia unveiled the ChipStack AI Super Agent – the industry’s first Level‑5 autonomous AI virtual engineer for chip design. Built on Cadence’s AI‑driven EDA platform and powered by Nvidia’s Nemotron LLM, it runs inside the Nvidia OpenShell sandbox for secure, autonomous simulation and design execution.

Unlike assistant‑class tools, ChipStack performs complete design and verification workflows without step‑by‑step human guidance. It interprets specifications, generates RTL, plans verification, runs formal analysis and simulation, debugs issues, and drives design closure – iterating independently until the target is met. Engineers only need to review and collaborate on optimization.

Cadence’s Paul Cunningham said the Level‑5 agent moves from auxiliary tool to autonomous doer, leveraging signoff engines and a safe runtime environment to accelerate innovation, reduce risk, and boost productivity.

ICgoodFind: The Cadence‑Nvidia Level‑5 AI agent takes full ownership of chip design and verification – a major leap in EDA intelligence.
